For the new and the curious:
Our current programme offers both those who are a little curious and the dedicated beginner many opportunities for getting a taste of Buddhism:
We offer a lunch-time meditation session Mondays to Thursdays at 1 pm. Beginners and experienced meditators drop in to enjoy a cup of tea, a brief introduction, and then a short meditation practice in the peace of the shrine room.
On Monday evenings at 7 pm we usually offer introductory and intermediate classes in meditation, Buddhism or “Buddhist practice in everyday life” in six-week cycles.
Also on Tuesday afternoons, at 5 pm, Amogharatna takes his “Buddhism in English” class, suitable for English native speakers and for other Buddhists who want to improve their English.
Our Open Evening on Thursday night at 7 pm offers beginners, especially, the opportunity of learning our approach to meditation and Buddhism in a twelve-week course.
For those with more experience:
On Tuesday evenings at 7 pm, we hold our Sangha evening (Sangha is the community of Buddhist practitioners), which offers more experienced practitioners the opportunity of coming together, meditating, listening to a talk or other activity and celebrating a Buddhist ritual, puja.
Study classes, intermediate and advanced:
Our twelve-month Buddhist foundation class takes place on Thursdays. A study group for Mitras, - due to lack of space at the Centre - currently takes place in private homes.
Yoga and Qi Gong
For those interested in body-work, there is a Yoga class for beginners on Monday afternoon from 5.45 to 6.45 pm with Dayaraja.
On Wednesday evenings, another Yoga class for beginners at 6 pm and for advanced students at 7.45 pm, also with Dayaraja.
Other activities:
All through the year there are opportunities to go on retreat: anything from 3 to 14 days living, practising and meditating together in a quiet, rural location in beautiful surroundings (for example Strodehne in Havelland)
There are also study and meditation days in the Buddhist Gate Berlin
We also offer:
Celebrations of Buddhist festivals
Meditation sessions in one of Berlin’s city parks (not in the winter!)
Weekend classes with teachers from the WBO in Germany and abroad.
A bookshop, which also sells meditation cushions and stools, incense etc.
A library with books, magazines, DVDs etc.
